Elizabeth Levitski

“My focus is on free-form furniture and sculpture.  I am most interested by the ways forest trees grow.  Being first a poet, I tend toward the metaphor in things.  Not only is every twisted limb, bent branch, and gnarly slab a resemblance of something else, they are journeys that beg to be taken, leading me where they will.  Although I often begin with an idea for each piece, I create as I go along, letting the wood be my guide.  Not knowing how the story will end is what fascinates me as an artist and writer.”  Select photos used from heartwoodcreations.net
